The extent to which the technical and organisational measures used actually contribute to accountability.
- Ethical Accountability

It is the practice of taking responsibility of own's actions and to be accountable to one's self not only to others. It ensures: 1) the practice of sustainable development, 2) democratic accountability where all stakeholders are involved in the decision making process, 3) self-monitoring and self-auditing.
- Event

Any observable occurrence in a system and/or network. Events sometimes provide indication that an incident is occurring.
- Evidence

An accountability system produces evidence that can be used to convince a third party that a fault has or has not occurred (evidence).
